Taiwan’s Yusco Raises 304 Stainless Steel Prices for October Amid Rising Costs
September 26, 2025 – Kaohsiung, Taiwan – Yieh United Steel Corp. (Yusco), YES Stainless International's partner mill, announced that the price of 304 stainless steel will be increased by NT$1,000/ton starting October 2025, while prices for 316L and 430 stainless steel will remain unchanged.
🔑 Key Drivers Behind the Price Adjustment
Yusco explained that the decision comes as nickel prices continue to rise, supported by:
- U.S. Federal Reserve interest rate cuts, which weakened the U.S. dollar and boosted commodity prices.
- Indonesia’s mining restrictions, limiting nickel ore supply and driving up production costs for stainless steel.
Despite these pressures, Yusco emphasized that it will absorb part of the cost increase to maintain competitiveness in the face of market uncertainty.
🌍 Global Market Context
The stainless steel market is also influenced by broader challenges, including:
- The EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), set to reshape global trade flows with stricter carbon reporting and tariff structures.
- Sluggish recovery in end-user demand, as industries remain cautious despite higher raw material prices.
📈 What This Means for Buyers
The adjustment reflects Yusco’s strategy to balance rising input costs with market uncertainties. For stainless steel buyers, particularly those sourcing 304 stainless steel for industrial and architectural applications, this signals potential upward price trends heading into Q4 2025.
