Yusco Announces December Stainless Steel Price Increase Amid Stronger Global Demand
Yieh United Steel Corp. (Yusco), Taiwan’s largest stainless steel mill and a long-term partner of YES Stainless International, has announced a price increase for its December stainless steel contracts after months of stable pricing. The adjustment reflects improving global market sentiment, rising production costs, and renewed optimism across major stainless steel–consuming regions.
For December shipments, Yusco raised prices for both 304 hot-rolled and cold-rolled stainless steel by NT$1,000 per ton, while pricing for 316L and 430 stainless steel remains unchanged. This marks a shift from earlier months when the company held or reduced prices in response to slower market conditions.
Why Yusco Is Raising Prices
Although raw material costs eased slightly, Yusco noted that overall production expenses have increased due to a weaker New Taiwan Dollar, pushing up the cost of imported inputs. Several demand-side factors are also supporting the price adjustment:
- European buyers are actively preparing for upcoming EU quota and safeguard policies, prompting early procurement.
- India’s extension of BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) certification deadlines to March 31, 2026 has temporarily eased export constraints and supported regional stainless steel demand.
- Post-conflict reconstruction expectations are strengthening market confidence globally, especially for 300-series stainless steel.
